The Great Risk Shift
This week, Slate.com printed a story- no, research paper-sort-of, op-ed - close enough- by Jacob S. Hacker, a professor of political science at Yale and a fellow at the New American Foundation called ‘Fixing the Left’s Health-Care Prescription.’ (Interesting title)
Is ’mainstream’ media picking up healthcare reform as an important topic?
Consumer Health Media’s been talking with leading experts about the possibility November’s elections could turn national attention, once again, to healthcare. If democrats win control of one, or especially both houses of congress, healthcare could become a priority. That’s because healthcare has always been a leading political platform for Democrats-the party that passed Medicaid/Medicare in 1965. And healthcare is once again a good platform for democrats.
A new USA/Gallop Poll ranks healthcare fourth among voters priorities when asked “”How important will each of the following issues be to your vote for Congress this year?”
The last time Democrats controlled one or both houses of congress- Hillary Clinton was our First Lady and tested the political waters with healthcare reform- ambitious even then.
We had the chance to sit down with Jacob Hacker to hear his thoughts on a variety of subjects.
