The Evolution of the Pharmaceutical Industry Blogosphere

One of the first bloggers to focus on drug industry marketing, ethics and policy was John Mack, journalist and publisher of the popular e-newsletter Pharma Marketing News. Mack’s candid and timely commentary earned him a mention in the Wall Street Journal as a must-read blog for industry insiders.

Over the past two years, the pharmaceutical blogosphere has grown in size and influence. Drug industry critics write some of the most popular blogs. For example, Question Authority, produced by Pfizer whistleblower Peter Rost, MD, has become an outlet for disaffected employees and a source of international news. Unfortunately, many pharmaceutical executives have not found ways to effectively and efficiently monitor and respond to content on Weblogs and other forms of social media.

This video focuses on the the results of Mack’s recent survey of blog readers and the evolution of the pharma blogosphere.
